Running Club

Calling all runners….MIMS is starting a running club. Through running, we show kids they can achieve more than they ever thought possible. MIMS is starting a running club, following the Marathon Kids program. The Marathon Kids program will provide curriculum, logging system, and rewards at goal thresholds. Over the course of a run club season, Marathon Kids work at their own pace to run, or walk, the distance of four marathons—104.8 miles. Each time, kids hit the number of miles in a marathon, they will get a reward (t-shirts, laces, etc).

We will meet weekly on Mondays at 4/4:15pm. Practice will be age appropriate. Depending on # of kids & volunteers, we can split older kids vs younger kids. Training will likely start in November. We will not practice when HISD is off school.

We will limit sign up to 30-35 kids (1st grade and up), and the cost will be $15 per child. If a kinder or PK kid is interested, we request there be a parent involved. We are also asking for parent volunteers since this is the inaugural year. Please fill this out for each child interested in participating.

Flora Lai and Christy Lan will be running (get it, running, ha ha) the club and getting the kids excited about running. We are both experienced runners who can’t wait to share our love of running with all the kids. We will pick a few running event later in the year as goals for the kids (these are completely optional).
